Moulton Glass began about 15 years ago, when Andy took some evening classes in lead light windows and working with cut glass. The family home had an outhouse that used to be the outside wash-house and loo, but after extensive renovation, it became a modern workshop full of space and light to get creating.
Daughter Clare got involved when she made an item for a college course. Then at 18, she decided to apply for Camp America, but needed a second skill to offer them (she was primarily a dance teacher) and thought glass seemed like a good idea! Once accepted, she thought she’d probably better learn a bit more about about it.
Since then, Clare’s been fully involved in the business, even running it alone from a small craft unit in Salford during the pandemic, where she made items for a successful Etsy shop.
Post-COVID and in a new house, but still in Moulton, Moulton Glass now has home on Regent Street, above the village hairdressers.
With a much bigger work space, we can now run taster sessions, as well as invite people up to have a look at what we have made. Although the workshop doesn’t open for regular hours, if the lights are on, feel free to see if there’s someone home!
