Restorations

Moulton Glass can make individual windows to your design, subject to the restrictions of working with cut glass – some cuts/shapes are just not possible or would result in a window that might not survive the journey home! We are always happy to work with you to preserve the idea of your original design.

We can also repair existing windows and doors and/or add strengthening bars to avoid future breakages. Some repairs can be done in situ, but some do require the entire window to be removed and repaired or rebuilt in our workshop.

Have a look at the galleries below to see some of our work over the years. We are always available to discuss your project and offer advice or a no-obligation quote.

Church Window Repair

This was a repair of a window in St Stephen’s Church in Moulton after damage from a stray football. You can see the glass that was salvageable in the plastic pot! The window was remade using these pieces, plus glass from our stock. Click the first image to start the gallery.

The Yorkshire Rose

We were asked to replace an old window in a door. The couple wanted to reflect their home county by having a Yorkshire Rose inset into the window.  In a door or opening window, there needs to be a degree of reinforcement to stop the window from moving – in this case we used a custom-made steel tie-bar to match the size of the rose and not obscure the design. Blackpool Door

Another door repair – this time all the way from Blackpool. After years of damage, the customer asked us to rebuild and restore the unusual design of mostly orange glass. Notice how each piece of glass is numbered to ensure it goes back in the correct place. Click the first image to start the gallery.

The Lion Pub, Moulton

After adding lovely diamond leadlights to the local Lion pub in Moulton, we were asked to refurbish the old Tetley lantern to match. If you look underneath, you will see a yellow Moulton Crow, which is the only non-black crow that’s ever been made (we don’t count red robins, Easter chicks or the odd bluebird).
